european vacation 2009

I need advice for a European vacation that includes Amsterdam and Paris.?
In May 2009, I spent a week in Europe. I want to visit Amsterdam and Paris for sure … a decision on the rest. I would advice ANY by any of these holidays, people who have been there. For example … Is better to buy a package from the internet or consult a local travel agent? I've never been outside the United States and I'm excited and afraid of making a mistake in my travel plans.
Thanks in advance for taking the time to answer my question.
I think for a week you will have your hands full with just these two cities. Paris enough to fill a week, at least by itself, by the addition of Amsterdam you will lose more than a day trip, checking your hotel / hostel, the actual travel and check in and get their bearings in their new hotel will have from breakfast until almost dinner time. It is like someone who goes to New York for a few days and add Washington DC to the mix because it was close. Or Los Angeles and San Francisco. There are tours that make half of Europe in a week, but I think it would be madness to make one, and I do not remember nothing I've seen, just inside the bus. If you want a trip, and you have a travel agent confidence nearby (which is in the U.S.) go there. No book through an agent in Europe because you can not judge whether the agent is trustworthy, if you're not sure which book and where to go, go to an all-in 'tour that is the hotel in Paris, travel in the city, 2 or 3 meals a day and a guide to appeal. I am sure that each travel agency will be able to find one of those to you. (I do not personally combining Paris and Amsterdam, but if you insist, it is possible.)
